In the capital of Kathmandu, extensive lockdowns in 2020 and surges in COVID-19 cases in the beginning of 2021 exacerbated educational inequalities and digital divides, leaving many students out of school as educational. MAITI Nepal was born out of a crusade to protect Nepali girls and women from crimes like domestic violence, trafficking for flesh trade, child prostitution, child labor and various forms of exploitation and torture.
